Kevin Healy, an anesthesiologist who retired in 2010, didn’t get that memo. It’s very satisfying to look at a duck from 300 yards away through a scope and be able to identify it.”
Kevin’s bird-watching forays have taken him as far afield asTrinidad and Costa Rica. His biggest triumph? “Once I identified a yellow-billed loon on Wall Lake in Iowa,” he says. “That’s like finding a silver dollar among a bunch of punched-out slugs, or a contact lens in a snowbank.”
